ok so we might be moving to fl.
wife wants to get away to start over.
i also want to move but at the right time and to the right place.
I used to live there. I was in the Carollwood area, the newer part. It's actually north of Tampa, up Dale Mabry. That's a great area as well as Land O Lakes.
Also, Brookesville, about 45 minutes further north is a much cheaper place to live. They put in an expressway that can get you to Tampa in about 20 minutes or so.
Good luck. Wish I could move back.

we asked this person if it could be aqbout the terminology change and they said that was already read last week...... we remember the last time they did this.
got everyone all excited thinking the big "a" was coming and all it was about, was the literature would now be donated instead of charging for it.. .
"effectively immediately, all zone overseers will now be called zone drones. The visit of a zone drone to a branch will be called a drone-in rather than a zone visit. All convention names will be changed immediately with the word "mindless" in front of them, regardless of their length or content.
To the body of elders:
Please read this to the congregation and then immediately destroy. Further instructions to follow....
hey i joined this thread recently and thought this was a good way to introduce myself.
i am 15, still going to school and i live in the uk.
a good chunk of my mum's side of the family are jws.
Sorry to hear that you're going through such a time...I went throught exactly what you did years ago.
Honestly, I would sit your mum down and just tell her outright what you said here. Tell her that you love her and your family and that you will respect their beliefs but that you have decided not to adopt them yourself. Assure her that you're not going to bust out on some major criminal, immoral spree, but that you just want to choose a different path. It's going to be difficult, especially with all of the people around you, and there may be emotion. Try to stay calm and stay true to yourself. I did...that was 25 years ago, and I don't regret it at all. Think about it and decide for yourself. You're very young, but very well spoken and you strike me as very intelligent.
You can email me anytime if you would like to chat to someone.
Stay strong....BIG HUGS.

law school is obviously not the hardest program to follow.
it isn't something that can be replicated on the internet.
a first year student can find the law.
I have a law degree but don't use it as I make a better living doing what I've been doing for all of these years....I'm often hesitant to tell people. The reaction often is negative. I think that's the case because really one side is always going to be unhappy with any outcome in a court of law. That's 50 percent. Of course, you're more likely to talk about a negative experience rather than a positive one. I interract with attorneys every day all of the time. Some are wonderful, some are not, some are competent, some are quite horrid...but that's the same with any profession, I imagine. You always get a few bad apples.
I don't think, BOTR, that you should be too hurt in my opinion. I am sure you've gotten into a lot worse tussles with fellow attorneys. I would just shake this off and continue on. After all, opinions are what you deal with all the time too -- the kind that come down from the courts. :)
they claim their schools, literature and teaching are far more superior than any "worldly" education.
how would you counter that belief?.
I'd like to know where they get that tidbit of info....oh, yeah. From their own writing department. Duh!

to answer my question, no i do not pray over meals anymore exept for when i am with other jws i do a 15 second head bow for appearances sake.
i just came to the realization god had nothing to do with whether i ate or not.
many believers are starving right now whilst many non-believers are eating like kings.. also why should god give me food while he lets little children in dprk concentration camps starve to death.
I guess if I believed in God, I would. I would rather thank the farmers that grew the food.
they have printed a series of articles about suicide.

This is very troubling. As someone who battles with depression and negative thoughts regularly, I am disappointed and alarmed that their first words of advice aren't seek professional help. But that's not what they really want...because if a person does seek professional help and counseling, it just might open their eyes to what's really going on. Everything about this religion sickens me.
